Relying on the Holy Spirit

I can handle dishes, grocery shopping, and taking my son out to play, and cooking dinner, and house cleaning. It’s all a part of being a mom and I enjoy getting tasks done. Despite doing all these great things for my husband and baby, I have gone to bed and woke up feeling unfulfilled. Let me explain. Moms, we often put ourselves last, and we sometimes fail to rely on the Holy Spirit. When I don’t stop, sit, pray, listen, and allow the Holy Spirit to guide me I become self-reliant.

We must be mindful of the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit. We cannot allow our spiritual lives to become stagnant where we are no longer relying on the Holy Spirit. It’s God’s will that we grow and mature in Christ. We need help! But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. 2 Peter 3:18

Maybe you have that sense of feeling unfulfilled. It could be that your heart is thirsty and/or your spirit is hungry for more. Here a few important reminders to help you stay the course and rely on the Holy Spirit:
  • Ready, study, meditate, and memorize the Word of God- The late Dr. Billy Graham in his book, “Peace with God” said, “Ninety-five percent of the difficulties you will experience as a Christian can be traced to a lack of Bible study and reading”. We are privileged to have religious freedom where we can carry and read our bibles anytime we want. I am still learning to study so don’t be discouraged by what you think you don’t know. If you have accepted Jesus, you have the Word in you because He is the Word!
  • Pray – Simply talking to God has become a part of my daily activity but it’s different when I actually stop, pray, listen, and worship. It takes practice and I’m still learning to delight myself in the Lord (Psalm 37:4). To delight ourselves in Him allows the Holy Spirit to direct our path. The beauty of prayer is that it can be anywhere! I often do this in the shower, doing dishes, and driving in my car. It doesn’t matter where just pray because God hears you!
  • Rely on the Holy Spirit – I must admit, this is the area I need to work on more and more. I’m starting to tell Him my insecurities. I really should be telling Him all about my weaknesses and ask Him to take over! There are days when I feel like I am not the strong Christian woman that I know I can be. I have to cry, wipe my face, and look up (which I do alot)! I must hear myself sharing and relying on the Holy Spirit to do His part. It’s humbling to admit that you’re weak but He understands and He can comfort you where you need it most. It takes practice just like everything else begin to let go of your tensions and worries, and allow Him to hold you together. Let Him make your decisions. Your job is to rest and relax.

This is an area that we all need reminding. These acts are no small acts in the kingdom of God. Please don’t look past these simple yet profound points. I believe the Holy Spirit is speaking to you and He will guide and lead you into all truth. Don’t be afraid to let him correct you, get you back on course, and help you. God sent Him just for you for a purpose. He’s not just a friend, He can be so much more than that! Will you let Him be a part of that decision you need to make? Will you let Him take over your daily routine? Will you let Him speak to you?

I love you and I pray that this month’s message encourages you and help you to rely on the Holy Spirit in your daily routine. He is patiently waiting for your invitation. God bless you!

Sincerely,
